About MAHE

The Manitoba Association of Home Economists (MAHE) represents over 180 home economists throughout the province.  Members work in all areas of the public, non-profit and private sectors to assist people in improving their quality of life.

MAHE is governed by a 12 member Board of Directors that sets the strategic direction of the association and administers The Professional Home Economists Act.

The Professional Home Economists Act, passed in 1990, recognizes the right of qualified members to use the Professional Home Economist (PHEc) designation. This registered status provides for self-regulation via an established code of professional conduct.

MAHE is pleased to have the following groups as partner projects:

  • Farm to School Manitoba Healthy Choice Fundraiser: This program was started by MAHE in 2011 and has now spread to many other provinces. It allows schools and daycares to fundraise while promoting healthy eating and supporting local vegetable growers. Visit their website for more information.
  • Fruit Share: This fruit rescue group was started by a MAHE member in 2010 and was modelled after similar programs in other Canadian cities. Visit their website to learn more.
