2010/2011 Board Action Plan |
1. Member Services and Communication
- Use technology and social media to communicate effectively with members and potential members (eg. website, facebook, twitter, blog, link to homefamily.net, etc.)
- Coordinate 8-10 E-bulletins with connection/links to website and other resources.
- Ensure a minimum of four programming opportunities throughout the year for members to learn, network and celebrate together.
- Update the Policy and Procedure Manual to reflect recent changes.
2. PHEc
- Continue to improve the IPHE package to ensure effective, high quality, timely, and convenient interim professional training and mentorship.
- Promote MAHE and the PHEc designation in the Faculty via information in courses, free memberships, professional development days, MAHE emails to HESO members and Graduation Ceremony.
- Promote the PHEc designation to the public.
3. Building a Voice
- Implement monthly Television series featuring PHEcs and their practical advice for home and family.
- Promote activities of the Association (TV, awards, events, World Home Ec Day, IFHE Family Day, etc.) through press releases, announcements, web updates, links to relevant sources, etc.
- Develop a HomeFamily.net blog to promote MAHETV and share Home Ec information with the public.
- Develop the Farm to School Vegetable Fundraising Program throughout Manitoba.
4. Alliances, Partnerships and Connectedness
- Foster stronger links with the Faculty and students to build alliances and recruit new members.
- Build an Association-wide campaign on 20 Ways to Recruit 20 Members.
- Recruit HESO representative to participate on Board Committee.
- Use our connections and work with other organizations to lobby/advocate for changes to the Home Ec Curriculum and ways to bring better nutrition and healthy living information into the schools.
- Continue to foster alliances, partnerships and connectedness with other organizations through special projects (eg. Farm to School Vegetable Fundraiser with Healthy Living & MAFRI) and member participation (eg. MHETA, PCWM, Heart and Stroke, etc.)

- Continue to update website.
- Keep newsletter key source of timely and interesting information for members across the province.
- Explore and utilize new social media techniques.
- Hold a minimum of four networking and learning opportunities for members.
- Update the Policy and Procedural Manual to reflect recent changes.
2. PHEc
- Continue improvements to the IPHE program.
- Develop online webinars for IPHE program.
- Promote MAHE and PHEc designation to faculty and students of Human Ecology.
- Promote the PHEc designation to the public.
- Participate in ongoing discussions regarding reciprocity and labour mobility.
3. Building a Voice
- Encourage members to regularly submit articles, achievements, news and events to the MAHE newsletter, website and other resources to illustrate the role of Professional Home Economists in our province.
- Develop method for publicly celebrating recipients of our awards.
- Develop and implement an Action Plan for Building Our Voice.
- Establish and maximize use of a list of non-MAHE members interested in our Association.
4. Alliances, Partnerships and Connectedness
- Foster stronger links with the staff and students in Human Ecology.
- Offer 4th year students free membership.
- Foster alliances, partnerships and connectedness with other organizations.
